To some extent, the team behind the revival of St. Trinian’s were on a bit of a hiding to nothing. The old films, contextualised by a far different age, were knockabout, energetic, yet innocent comedies about the antics of a boisterous girls’ school and its inhabitants. Surprisingly though, the remake--again inspired by the Ronald Searle cartoons--manages to sidestep the bulk of the obstacles in its path, and proves itself as a likeable, entertaining comedy. The plot of St. Trinian’s is as paper-thin as you’d expect, and serves merely as a platform for the anarchic actions of the cast of characters (some hokum about stealing a picture and saving the school). And a mischievous lot they prove to be: while they don’t quite live up to the memories of the generation of St. Trinian’s students before them, the primarily young cast still attack their roles with tremendous, and infectious, gusto. And leading the cast is Rupert Everett, in an entertaining duel role at St. Trinian’s headmistress Miss Frinton and her brother, Carnaby. Joined by Colin Firth, he’s clearly having a whale of a time, and his casting process a wise decision. It’s great to see the always-wonderful Celia Imrie in there, too. St Trinian’s, as you’d expect, has plenty of problems, notably a script that relies too much on the charm of its cast to pull it through. But heck, it’s still fun, and a hard film not to enjoy. It won’t win Oscars, but it will put a grin on your face. --Jon Foster

Summary: Great film, a credit to the St.Trinians name
Comment: I have been a great fan of the original series of films and it was with some trepidation that I watched this, half expecting another really bad re-styling of a British comedy classic like Carry On Columbus. I was very surprised to find that not only being amazingly funny and enjoyable the film kept up with the same style as the originals.
Russell Brand made a superb Flash Harry and was as good as George Cole. Rupert Everett gave perhaps his best ever performance along with Colin Firth providing a love story that manages to lampoon previous roles without requiring the audience to understand the references.

Comment: I wasn't sure about it to start with but i watched it at a friends house and it was great. You may think it's just about a girl called Annabel Fritton being sent to St Trinnians, worst school ever but it's more than that. Their is the relationship between the headmistress (Rupert Everett) and the education minister (Colin Firth). And the plan to save St Trinians. I liked the fact they included Chavs, Emos, Geeks ect in it and it made it quite funny. It's hilarious though some of the comedy is quite grusome. I recommend you buying it!

Summary: Avoid!! Get Mean Girls instead
Comment: This was a terrible film. About as low class as you can possibly get in a film, the fact Russell Brand is in it tells it's own story. How Colin Firth got roped into this disaster i have no idea, it's damaging his reputation. Unprofessional, amateurish, shambles. If you want a great movie in the same genre, go see Mean Girls with Lindsay Lohan, that was superbly done:) Failing that, 13 going on 30 was also very good.

Comment: Honestly !!! I bought this film when it came out. i thought i would be good 1) decent cast 2) girls aloud doing the song for it. It was awful. Terrible humor, terrible plot. i might be worth it if you could get it for £1 . :(
