Customer Rating: Summary: Legendary Lennon Comment: When I was a nipper I used to own a copy of this album on vinyl. Heaven knows where I got it from. I probably inherited it from someone. But I always found this album hypnotic: the stark production, the bare vocals, the simple, honest lyrics. It's easy to get carried away with the more famous Beatles recordings and the more commercial solo output (Imagine and Double Fantasy) but it's always more interesting to delve into John, Paul, George and Ringo's lesser-known work. This DVD told me so much about this album that I didn't already know. I've seen a couple of other episodes in these series (Queen's A Night at the Opera and Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon) so I kind of knew what I was in for. But when it's an artist as idolised as Lennon it's nice to strip things back to basics: he was a talented artist and this is him at work. Klaus Voorman (bass) and Ringo (drums) are present and correct along with Yoko and the studio engineers. The only surviving participant missing is Phil Spector. I'm so glad they chose to look at this album rather than Imagine. Now let's bring on Paul's Band on the Run, George's All Things Must Pass and Ringo's Ringo.
