I'd seen this DVD available for pre-order and being a massive Madonna fan thought i'd check it out even though i couldn't find any description of what was on the DVD anywhere.
Basically, it's the 3rd release of the Madonna 'Music In Review' documentary, repackaged into yet another version that while essentially the same - always lure's the collectors and completists to buy it. That's how these companies that bring these things out without the artist's permission make their money. But let's not worry about the ethics of the DVD... A brief rundown on what it looks like - It's a nice pink card slipcase with two of those slimline DVD cases in it.
For those that haven't seen it before - it's actually one of the better unnoficial Madonna documentaries, thankfully doing away with the more general biography feel and focussing on what really matters - the music and the image. The documentary goes into quite a lot of detail, going all the way from the first album to American Life (Pictures from the re-invention tour and the Confessions album are shown but not talked about). The early days recieve the most attention whereas her more recent material is skimmed over quite quickly. Sadly, True Blue and Bedtime Stories are missed out completely which is a real shame.
All the talking heads seem very knowledgeble about Madonna and are pretty humourous + there's a couple of good interviews between Madonna and Terry Wogan and Jonathan Ross. Of course, as is the nature with these DVDs, they're plagued by poor quality footage which looks like it's come straight off someone's home taping but oh well, that's to be expected. The main documentary is about an hour long.
You then get about half an hours worth of 'live rarities' on the 2nd DVD. I don't get why they couldn't put it all on one disc... The videos on here are basically just full length versions of performances you've already seen clips of in the main documentary:

3. Sooner Or Later
4. Vogue
5. Holiday (From Live Aid)
6. Into the Groove (From Live Aid)
Overall, if you're a Madonna fan and haven't seen the 'Music In Review' documentary yet, buy this - it's a good watch. And if you have seen it already... well i guess you'll probably end up buying it anyway!
