Summary: the red piano
Comment: unfortunately i have to disagree with the other reviewers and give this product only two stars. the reasons for this review are pretty simple;

las vegas has become known as something of a "resting ground" for jaded old stars who haven't got the energy or inspiration for constant touring and new records, and unfortunately elton john seems to be falling into this category.

people may rave about the staging and production (largely consisting of massive inflatable fruits and videos which seldom bear any relation whatsoever to the song they accompany) but the sad fact is that this serves simply as a distraction from a somewhat boring setlist and elton's poor singing of his own hits. his voice has been declining for a number of years, and has finally started to get embarassing as he attempts his old numbers like "tiny dancer" and "daniel" for which he no longer has the vocal capability.

the second dvd is a documentary about the show, it has some interesting interviews with his band members, but about half of it is wasted on clips of songs from the first dvd, which you probably literally just watched, so it becomes over-long (much like his rendition of "rocket man" in the show)

the packaging looks nice, and includes a glossy booklet, although this does bizarrely make reference to songs in the show which aren't on the DVD, which is a little odd.

Summary: quite simply the most wonderful concert I have seen
Comment: the other night Elton rocked Manchester with this great show. I have never seen or heard anything as amazing as this. it was an absolute joy. Naturally any DVD cannot capture a performance as good as this but as a souvenir it is perfect. Until that night I had never really rated Elton but now I have to say I am a fan. What a showman he truly is.

Summary: Elton John Raises The Bar!
Comment: This four disc box set is one of Elton John's most expansive. The first DVD is the actual concert at Caesar's Palace with fourteen songs played to perfection in front of a 4,100 seat crowd. Its Elton's famous band members combined with a theatrical show combining visual delights like neon sculptures, pop art inflatable's, pole-dancing Pamela Anderson, giant love hearts, balloons and more. Filmmaker David LaChapelle has included original videos for the backdrop for each individual song. There is constant music and constant motion awash in color. The show is much more intimate than the Madison Square Garden 60th Birthday party concert. Elton does a lot more personal talking in this great video as well. The show is available in Dolby stereo or DTS surround.

The first DVD includes the songs:
"Bennie And The Jets"
"Philadelphia Freedom"
"Believe"
"Rocket Man"
"Answer In The Sky"
"Tiny Dancer"
"Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me"
"Candle In The Wind"
"The Bitch Is Back"
"I'm Still Standing"
"Saturday Night's All Right For Fighting"
"Your Song"

The second DVD includes an in depth look at the behind the scenes setup of the theater with plenty of individual band member interviews and a great deal of personal perspective and insight from Elton John. It is a remarkable story about what brought about "The Red Piano" show as well as a good briefing on the Elton John band. An excellent addition.

Not to leave out this great music from a non-DVD player, there are two additional CD's that contain all the songs from the show, plus an additional one, "I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues". The entire set is contained in a nice 5" X 7" X 1" cardboard box enclosure.
